Introducing the SPFL Trust's board of trustees
All charities are required to be led by a group of trustees. Our board play a vital part in the effective governance and fiduciary management of the SPFL Trust. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. In doing so, they are well equipped to support and advise our chief executive Nicky Reid, and her staff team. On this page you will find short biographies of each member of our board.
Bernadette Malone
Chair
For 15 years Bernadette was Perth & Kinross Council's chief executive. She has also served as chair at Society of Local Authority Chief Executives.
Charles Barnett
Treasurer
Our treasurer Charles fulfills this role, following a successful career as a partner in PKF, and latterly BDO. He continues to advise a range of clients.
Calum Beattie
Calum is the Company Secretary and Director of Operations at the SPFL.
Iain Blair
A founding member of the SPFL Trust board, Iain has has served as the SPFL (formally SPL) company secretary and operations director since 1998.
Derek McGowan
Derek is the Service Director for Housing and Homelessness at the City of Edinburgh Council.
Murdoch MacLennan
A highly experienced media executive, Murdoch is the current chair of the SPFL, and PA. He was formally CEO at Telegraph Media Group.
Kathleen McLoughlin
Kathleen has worked in a public sector background at a national and local level, supporting organisations on their improvement journey.
Ruth Boyle
Ruth Boyle is the policy and campaigns manager at the Poverty Alliance, Scotland’s
anti-poverty network, where she leads on the organisation’s policy, campaigns and
communications work.
Prof Graham Watt
Our vice chair is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Glasgow with a fine academic record in epidemiology, public health and general practice.
Paul Wedlock
A highly experience Finance professional, Paul is the current Finance Director at the
Sky Group.
Ben Miller
Ben is a communications specialist with a focus on the intersection of football and social & environmental impact.
