SPFL Trust charity golf day 2024
Written By Jake Gray
Our charity golf day, sponsored by Callaway Apparel, took place at The Carrick on Loch Lomond on Wednesday 15 May.
After breakfast and registration, our players were welcomed by our CEO Nicky Reid, who introduced the SPFL Trust, the golf day activities and spoke about our mental health work throughout Scotland, which the golf day was in aid of.
Kitted out in Callaway Apparel gear provided by our generous sponsors Callaway Apparel and Perry Ellis Europe, our golfers took to the course surrounded by the glorious scenery of Loch Lomond. Our players included John Hartson, Frank McAvennie, Scott Meenagh, Lee Miller, James Brady, Ian Durrant, Liam Fontaine and our golf day ambassador Shelley Kerr.
There were some fantastic shots on display as they took in the 18 holes in a Texas Scramble format.
There was plenty to play for, with a yellow ball challenge taking place with the prize being a fourball over The Fairmount St Andrews golf course. The winner of that was Craig Wilson from Big Hearts. Liam Fontaine was nearest to the pin, and the longest drive was Liam Tait of the SPFL.
Top three teams
3rd – John Hartson, Frank McAvennie, Scott Meenagh, Lee Miller
2nd – Team Big Hearts made up of Craig Wilson, Gary Locke, Stuart Duncan and Brendan Cantwell
1st – Team SPFL & SWPL – Liam Tait, Iain Stuart, Dave Brawley, Mike Scott.
There were also fantastic prizes, generously donated by some of our sponsors and partners, given away after our raffle prize draw, our red and yellow card quiz game and our guess the tees competition.
We are extremely grateful to our sponsors who have supported our golf day:
- Perry Ellis – Callaway Apparel
- Arnold Clark
- Three Bridges Recruitment
- Topps
- Taylors Crisps
- The Carrick golf course
- Loch Lomond Group
The theme of this week’s Mental Health Awareness Week is movement, and we were pleased to spread the message of how important movement is for our mental health to all of our guests.
It was great to welcome everyone along in aid of our mental health work throughout Scotland.
