What to expect at the SPFL Trust Trophy Final
Written By SPFL Trust Media Centre
The SPFL Trust Trophy Final 2022 between Raith Rovers and Queen of the South takes place at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie on Sunday (03 2022, 4.15pm) with loads planned to ensure a memorable day out for supporters.
Both clubs still have tickets available and U12s can attend for free with a paying adult.
On the day we recommend you’re in your seats no later than 4pm to enjoy a very special big match build up.
Here’s what’s planned:
Circus performers
Pre-match outside the stadium we’ll have performers from Think Circus, not-for-profit Community Interest Company. You’ll find amazing fire displays, stilt walkers, jugglers and hula hoopers
Trophy legends
Former competition winners Dougie Hill (Raith Rovers) and Chris Higgins (Queen of the South) will parade the trophy pre-match, evoking memories of the last time both clubs lifted the cup
Player escorts
The kids are back for the first time in two years at an SPFL match! Every player – and event the referee with his own ball carrier – will be accompanied for the big match walk out after winners were selected from over 300 entries
Pre-match show
Shortly before kick off the Think Circus will be back with a one-off, spectacular performance in the centre circle using giant ribbons, especially choreographed for the SPFL Trust Trophy Final
Football Fans in Training
At half-time, participants in our FFIT programme from both clubs will face off in a ten second challenge
On the pitch experience
We’ll also welcome 40 boys and girls from both clubs to take part in a series of small sided games on the pitch – do make sure you give them a cheer on their special day
Give the Glory
At full time a supporter – either Molli (Raith Rovers) or Finlay (Queen of the South) – will present the trophy to the winning team, in what is sure to be a very emotional moment
Player of the Match
We’ve also got a supporter – Jim (Raith Rovers) or George (Queen of the South) will present BBC ALBA’s chosen Player of the Match with his official trophy
If you cannot make it to the game, then you can watch the action unfold LIVE on BBC ALBA and online at BBC iPlayer.
