St Johnstone have used half of their funding to recruit a new Community Projects Coordinator with the other half of the funding being used to develop and deliver 2 ‘Saints Media Stars’ community projects to 16 primary schools. Saints Media Stars continues to engage with young people who may be encountering difficulties with literacy work at school. By using the power of football, some of these difficulties principally engagement issues are being helped. The project has also helped to develop literacy skills through the delivery of football related literacy activities, such as match day reports. The school children visited McDiarmid Park to participate in 3 different workshops related to match commentating, interview techniques and newspaper reporting of football matches. Some of the children were given the opportunity to interview the manager and first team players.
