In partnership with Football Memories ( Alzheimer Scotland ), Livingston have used their funding to deliver the Reminiscence Project to older people with Dementia and Alzheimers, whilst also providing respite care for those looking after family members with the conditions. Participants are involved in a number of football and sporting activities designed specifically around their abilities to share and stimulate memories. Local High School students, specifically 6th year pupils, also provide a buddy system to the participants. The students learn about Alzheimers and Dementia and how to effectively engage with those suffering from the conditions. They also complete training through the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership.
