Hibernian Strikers “Franck Dja Djedje” and “Martin Boyle” helped to launch The Hibernian ‘90 Minutes Club’ at St. Ninian’s Primary School last week.
This programme, organised by the Hibernian Community Foundation, asks school pupils in the local area to complete 45 minutes of homework in order to be rewarded with 45 minutes of coaching. The chief aim of the programme is to use the appeal and power of football to encourage young children to become more involved with education. Hibernian Community Foundation recognises that football coaching is a powerful tool that can encourage positive engagement with physical activity and skill development with the youths of today.
Pupils on the programme are asked to sign contracts which state they agree to attend all sessions of the 10 week programme with enthusiasm, focus and determination to do their best. The players, acting as ambassadors for the programme, also sign the pupil’s contracts to convey the sense of maturity and discipline that is required in all tasks asked of them.
