Football Fans in Training 2020-21 report
Written By SPFL Trust Media Centre
Our FFIT 2020-21 Project Report is now live.
Our flagship health programme Football Fans in Training (FFIT) has now been running for over a decade, with thousands of Scottish football fans benefitting from the initiative. Participants come away feeling ready to make positive changes, and the results are proven to last.
The 2020-21 season was not without challenges, with restrictions in place for months at a time, often putting SPFL clubs and their associated community trusts at a standstill.
In the 2021 season:
- 14 SPFL clubs took part
- 512 people took part in the programme
- the grand total of weight lost was 1774kg
- On average participants lost 5kg each
Our CEO, Nicky Reid said: ”We know that football has the power to change lives, and FFIT is a brilliant example of that. By making small changes participants can see real results, and in turn have often reported an increase in their mental wellbeing.
”The 2020-21 season was not without it’s challenges. But, Covid restrictions did not stop this programme taking place. I am delighted that participants have left feeling confident and equipped to make healthy lifestyle choices moving forward.”
