Revealed: 43% increase in Festive Friends participation
Written By SPFL Trust Media Centre
The SPFL Trust is happy to reveal a significant increase in participation in our Festive Friends programme for 2019.
We’re celebrating a 43% year on year increase across 36 events.
For the first time our own SPFL Trust Festive Friends event also took place at Hampden Park, generously presented Sodexho.
And no less than SIX clubs were open on Christmas Day to make things that little bit easier, for those facing the festive period alone.
Festive Friends takes place across Scotland through December, with clubs from all four divisions of the SPFL invited to take part.
Guests are welcomed into the heart of their local stadium, served up a terrific turkey and all the trimmings, enjoy fun and games, and go home with a lovely gift from their day. The programme also helps provide them with the means to get to the event.
Although SPFL Trust funding for the programme has remained fairly static year on year, we’re seeing a trend of clubs being able to leverage match funding from within their own communities which is enabling more people to participate.
We’re extremely grateful to our 2019 funding partners, the SPFL and SGN, as well as supporters attending the Betfred Cup Semi-Finals, in the autumn, and our own staff team, many of whom took part in Kiltwalk 2019.
