Elgin City FC are starting a new inactive called “Digital Skills Through Football”
The Moray-based charity called Opportunity Enhancement Trust has recently completed the first running of their ‘Digital Skills Through Football’ programme in partnership with Elgin City Football Club.
This new incentive aims to help the participants to develop their digital, communication and also numeracy skills through watching and also reporting on football matches. The current course leader Stephen Shand says the programme is ideal for anybody who enjoys football and who is also struggling to find a clear direction within the world of work and education.
“We teach the students a wide range of skills using football as the vehicle and believe that this is a very enjoyable learning experience. The students involved have all performed well on the course and I can see how it has improved their confidence over the 5-week period.”
The course co-ordinator was keen to emphasise that there is no requirement for the prospective students to be footballers. “This course is not about making anyone a better footballer and you don’t need to be able to play football to take part in the course, but it is specifically designed for those who have a passion for the game.”
The next Digital Skills through Football intake is due to start in 6 days’ time in Keith (venue still to be confirmed).
