Game Energy end of programme report
Written By Ben Archibald
Our end of programme report for Game Energy, delivered in partnership with Scotland Gas Networks (SGN), is now live.
Game Energy used the trusted reach of professional football clubs to engage communities across Scotland on energy efficiency, gas and carbon monoxide safety, and the Priority Services Register.
Developed in response to sustained cost-of-living pressures and rising energy insecurity, it was designed to reach people who may be experiencing fuel poverty and be less likely to access traditional advice services.
Running from October 2024 to March 2026 across two cohorts, the programme was delivered through 11 community hubs at football club venues across Scotland, alongside wider awareness activity and direct advice conversations.
Key headlines:
- 5,818 households benefitted across the full programme period
- 5,250 people accessed information on energy efficiency, CO safety and the Priority Services Register.
- The community hubs at the heart of delivery produced results well beyond their original targets. Against an initial target of 150 households, 1,606 were reached through the hubs.
- The programme generated a digital and matchday reach of over 160,000.
- There were 1,137 in-depth energy advice interactions, 1,256 CO awareness conversations and 1,010 wellbeing conversations.
- 515 households were supported to reduce their energy costs, and 4,143 CO alarms were gifted to participants.
- 50 ATC advisors were trained to deliver PSR and energy safeguarding support.
The programme was delivered in partnership with SGN’s Safe and Warm Team, alongside national and local partners including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Home Energy Scotland, Age Scotland, Citizens Advice Bureau and Women’s Aid.
