Falkirk Stadium to host SPFL Trust Trophy Final
Written By SPFL Trust Media Centre
The SPFL has today announced the date and venue for the 2023-24 SPFL Trust Trophy final between The New Saints and Airdrieonians.
This season’s final will be played at The Falkirk Stadium on Sunday 24 March and will be shown live on both BBC ALBA and S4C with a 4.15pm kick-off.
Falkirk hosted last year’s SPFL Trust Trophy final involving Hamilton Academical and Raith Rovers and will also stage this season’s decider between the reigning Welsh champions and Rhys McCabe’s Airdrieonians side, who are currently fifth in the cinch Championship.
The SPFL Trust Trophy began back in 1990-91 – when the tournament was named the SFL Centenary Cup – and Airdrie are seeking their fifth success in this competition, with their most recent final appearance coming in 2008-09.
The New Saints are the second JD Cymru Premier club to reach the final, with Connah’s Quay Nomads beaten by Ross County in the 2018-19 final in Inverness.
Following agreement between the two competing clubs, ticket prices have been set at £20 for adults, £12 for concessions (over 65s and students) and £6 for juveniles aged 12-16.
As has been the case for recent SPFL Trust Trophy finals, under 12s will again be admitted free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult.
The two finalists will announce ticket sale information via their own channels in due course.
SPFL group chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm details for the 2023/24 SPFL Trust Trophy final. Last season’s final at The Falkirk Stadium was a great occasion and I am sure we are in for another day to remember next month.
“I would like to thank Falkirk FC for hosting the final and offer my congratulations to The New Saints and Airdrieonians on their impressive semi-final victories at the weekend.”
SPFL Trust CEO Nicky Reid said: “We’re really looking forward to this year’s SPFL Trust Trophy Final at the Falkirk Stadium. Airdrieonians have been brilliant this season, and The New Saints have likewise been on an incredible run.
“The SPFL Trust Trophy is of course about lifting silverware, but for us it’s about more than that; celebrating the extraordinary impact that clubs and community trusts have in their communities. We’ll be using the opportunity of the final to do so once again.”
In December, the SPFL announced a one-year extension with the SPFL Trust for the title sponsorship of the SPFL Trust Trophy – funded by philanthropist James Anderson. The SPFL and SPFL Trust have agreed to renew the deal for a fourth consecutive year in season 2024-25.
