Celebrating 10 years of Joy of Moving
Written By Jake Gray
Joy of Moving has been helping young people across the UK stay active for 10 years. In partnership with the Ferrero UK, Joy of Moving engages with almost 7,000 children in Scotland.
The Joy of Moving project is a six-week programme delivered within schools to children aged between nine and ten. It is a mixture of classroom and activity-based learning, where each child gets nine additional hours of dedicated learning about the importance of getting active through fun games and activities, inspired by the Joy of Moving methodology.
The Joy of moving Festivals, which are similar to sports days, encourage children of all ages and abilities to learn through play with simple and fun games during a half or whole day during the summer term.
Our CEO Nicky Reid said: “The Joy of Moving programme is a fantastic opportunity for children to discover the joy of physical activity.
“Through partnerships with schools, our ATCs are nurturing a generation that values movement as a fun and integral part of their lives.
“I am thrilled that the programme continues to be delivered by clubs within our network, inspiring young people to embrace the joy of being active.”
The programme is delivered at schools by three clubs in Scotland; Hearts Community Coaching, Celtic Foundation and Rangers Charity Foundation.
